AC Tune-Ups in Arden and Asheville, NC

Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors provides AC tune-ups for homes across Arden, Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and surrounding communities across Western North Carolina. The tune-up is a detailed maintenance visit: we clean the system, test its components against measured values, and verify its cooling performance. We have kept Western North Carolina comfortable for over 25 years, and we service and repair most equipment brands. Schedule your AC tune-up with Mountain Air Mechanical online, by phone, or through our 24/7 website chat.

In Western North Carolina, cooling equipment works through humid summers and wide seasonal swings. A spring tune-up measures how the system is holding up before the first hot stretch.

What Our AC Tune-Up Covers

The checklist is built around measurement, with values recorded where it matters:

  • Standard one-inch air filters are replaced or cleaned, and the outdoor condenser coil is cleaned and rinsed.
  • Condensate drain lines, pans, and pumps are cleaned, and the indoor evaporator coil gets a visual inspection.
  • Our technician reads refrigerant pressures and temperatures and verifies proper superheat and subcooling levels.
  • The air temperature drop at the evaporator coil is measured and recorded, and airflow is assessed.
  • The compressor is tested, along with the switchover and reversing valve operation, and in-rush current is measured at startup.
  • Start and run capacitors, contactors, and relays are examined for damage and proper output.
  • Electrical voltage and amperage are measured and recorded, and each motor is tested.
  • The blower motor and wheel are inspected for cleanliness, and all serviceable motors, bearings, and fans are lubricated.
  • The thermostat is cleaned, leveled, tested, and calibrated; the electrical wiring is inspected and tightened; the controls for safety and operation are tested and adjusted; and the duct system gets a visual inspection.

Why Precision Matters

Superheat, subcooling, temperature drop, and in-rush current each have correct ranges, and a reading that drifts from one year to the next shows a component aging before it fails. Our technicians measure and record voltage, amperage, and the air temperature drop at each visit, which builds a record of how the system is doing.

The same measurements apply to any brand, so a system someone else installed gets the same baseline readings as one we installed. Following a regular service schedule also protects your manufacturer’s warranty.

FAQs

Do you service equipment you did not install?

Yes. Our technicians are trained to work on most major air conditioning brands, whether we installed the system originally or not.

What does the thermostat step involve?

The thermostat is cleaned, leveled, tested, and calibrated, and its operation is tested again with the rest of the visit’s controls. A thermostat that is clean, level, and calibrated is better placed to read the room accurately.

What is the switchover valve test, and do I need it?

The reversing valve is what lets a heat pump switch between cooling and heating. Testing it during the cooling tune-up confirms the switchover works before winter asks. If you have a straight air conditioner, the switchover test does not apply.

Do you service cooling systems out toward Brevard and Hendersonville?

Yes. Our service area covers Arden, Asheville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and the surrounding Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, and Haywood county communities. Scheduling and the tune-up checklist are the same across the footprint.
